Description
RWD Consulting is looking for a full-time Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to work on site at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Data Center Infrastructure Engineer will provide continuous operations and maintenance support of the Data Center infrastructure, including responsibility for lifecycle management, storage administration, backup, recovery and archival services, monitoring, and business continuity support as defined by DoD standards. While primarily supporting WRNMMC, the contractor will act as a global liaison within the greater DHA technical support team. This position will serve be responsible for problem resolution and serve as technical leads in their field.

This is an IAT Level II position as defined in DoD 8570.01-M which requires the applicable certifications/accreditation.
This position requires an active or interim Secret clearance prior to the start of employment. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or a related field. Equivalent work or military experience maybe substituted.
  • 4+ years of data center operations and engineering experience. Preference is in a DoD space.
  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience in the following:
    • EMC VNXe SAN Storage Management, Storage Zoning, SAN Lun Provisioning, HA Clustering Technology for VMWare
    • Fast Cache Technology
    • NAS Head Management, CIFS and NFS Shares
    • Remote and Local Replication Configuration, EMC Recoverpoint 9.2.9
    • MS Enterprise SQL Server, TSQL, Database Backup and Recovery
    • Backup and Disaster Recovery, EMC Avamar Solution
    • vSphere Configuration and Management
    • VMWare Virtual Infrastructure
    • OCSP Responder, DOD-PKI
    • HP Blade/Chassis and Standalone Server Installation and Troubleshooting
    • Windows Networking including TCP-IP, DNS, DHCP and Firewall
    • Group Policy Management and Implementation
    • Windows Patching and Updating
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well in an organization and coordinate across various groups and functional teams.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to ensure access to U.S. government facilities.
  • Must possess an active or interim Secret Clearance

TASKS TO BE PERFORMED

  • Provide timely and responsive team-wide 24x7 on-call support for storage and backup infrastructure and services to WRNMMC and its selected alternative sites and components.
  • Provide administration and support of operating systems on systems/servers in a large enterprise medical environment; protect mission-critical data housed within WRNMMC storage arrays for block/file systems; protect local backup and restores.
  • Produce and deliver standard builds and use-cases for the organization-engineered SAN, NAS, and Archive and Backup solutions within WRNMMC and selected Disaster Recovery / Continuity of Operations (DR/COOP) environment.
  • Install, configure, and manage vSphere in an enterprise cluster environment; manage VMWare virtual infrastructure as required. Install and configure Microsoft Enterprise SQL Server, run TSQL and database backup and recovery actions as required.
  • Ensure successful and timely replication of all mission critical data to the selected backup and/or offsite location. Provide local protection of local backup and restore data.
  • Provide expertise, involvement and monitoring of architecture strategy, deployment, migration and delivery of updated and new storage solutions. Closely manage detailed plans and designs to ensure a common design and delivery approach in line with DoD standards and approved storage designs.
  • Provide full accountability for the delivery of WRNMMC storage and backup infrastructure initiatives, projects, and operational enhancements – including lifecycle management; performance tuning; incident, problem, and change management; risk and remediation management; and documentation and reporting.
  • Engage and play a key role in business continuity planning, DR strategy, and liaising with local and remote application and service customers to ensure timely delivery of their backup and storage requirements.
