Summary/Objective

RWD Consulting is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to work out of its corporate office in the DC metro area. This is position is metro accessible and located in NW DC and is not tele-work position. 

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will assist in the month-end close, preparation of monthly and quarterly financials, ensuring the integrity of internal reporting, financial statement preparation and analysis, and variance analysis. The Senior Accountant must have a good understanding of the budget process and data collection. As related to Government Contracting, the Senior Accountant will assist in the compilation of pricing for proposal submission or preparation.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience working in a government contracting firm, a plus
  • Minimum 4 yrs of experience with Deltek Costpoint version 7.0 or higher
    • Time and Attendance, Billing, and Projects
  • Experience with payroll and using an external payroll company (including ADP or Paychex)
  • Strong systems skills including advanced MS Office (Excel is required)
  • Working knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of GAAP

  • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close process
  • Review/prepare journal entries
  • Review/prepare various reconciliations
  • Prepare/assist in the review of the monthly reporting packages required for submission to parent company
  • Ensure integrity and adequacy of the Company's financial systems
  • Participate in the preparation of schedules in connection with the annual audit/review
  • Assist with documentation of process and internal control testing
  • Assist with processing monthly invoices to customers
  • Assist with processing Accounts Payable and distributions
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Perform ad-hoc account analyses and other departmental tasks as necessary
  • Participate in special projects as needed
  • Hands-on leadership and supervisory style that promotes a work environment focused on results, deadlines, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work as a part of a team with other members of the accounting and administrative teams
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity in highly stressful situations and in dealing with heavy workload

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Travel

May travel periodically as needed for Government/Client support.
