Description

BACKGROUND

The Center for Global Health (CGH): (1) leads the coordination and execution of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) global health strategy; (2) works with partnership to assist ministries of health to build capacity, maximize public health impact and promote country ownership and sustainability' (3) achieves U.S. government and international organizational goals to improve health, including disease eradication and elimination targets; (4) strengthens CDC's global health programs that focus on the leading causes of mortality, morbidity and disability, including chronic disease and injuries; (5) generates and applies new knowledge to achieve health goals; and (6) strengthens health systems and their impact.

Within the Office of the Director, the Associate Director for Science (ADS), Extramural Research Program Office (ERPO) oversees all research Cooperative Agreements (COAGs) from creation publication, managing the award throughout the life cycle and closeout for all the divisions within CGH.
 

SCOPE OF WORK

These services will provide scientific analysis support services related to reviews and evaluations, consultation services, participating in activities inclusive of review and clearance of research and program evaluation. These services will also include reviewing and analyzing data regarding CGH program performance from headquarters staff and country offices, surveying data, and conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis and preparing summary reports using this data.

 

TASKS TO BE PERFORMED

Provide scientific support, information and responses to inquiries from CGH staff and programs on science office resources, processes and timelines of documents, forms, determinations and clearances for human subjects and/or OMB Paperwork Reduction Act.

  • 4.3.1: Review and provide comments on fact sheets, guidance documents and communication materials submitted to the Office of Science.
  • 4.3.2: Conduct scientific assessment activities of the organization, inclusive of reviewing project plans, developing timelines, and design and conduct of CGH program evaluations of scientific research activities and programs reviews and evaluations.
  • 4.3.3: Collaborate with program and participates in activities inclusive of review and clearance of research, program evaluation, surveillance, assessment, measurement , surveys, translation, dissemination, environmental scanning, interventions, studies, communications, marketing/campaigns, networking, literature searches, manusc1ipts, and peer reviews all of which are related to improving the scientific quality and integ1ity of CGH.
  • 4.3.4: Provide expert public health guidance, technical assistance and consultation in program areas and efforts related to Global Health, inclusive of review and clearance of documents and scientific products, design of studies and public health program s and communication of findings with internal and external partners. Service will provide instruction a total of 2, 3-day Regional training sessions. 1session in Asia the other Africa. The training will include presentations and group exercises on public health and research ethics, protocol development, scientific writing and presentation. This training is essential for overseas staff and will aid in their career development.
  • 4.3.5: Review and analyze data regarding CGH program performance from Headquarters staff and Country Offices, survey data, and conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis and prepare summary reports using this data for use by Office of Science and Center leadership.
  • This service will work a 16-hour work week, two days per week excluding holidays, weekends and other autho1ized time off coordinated with RWD and the Client.
