Position Overview:

The Foreman Supervisor, Shop is responsible for supervising and coordinating multi-trade maintenance, repair, and renovation activities within a facility. This role oversees skilled trades personnel performing carpentry, sheet metal work, plumbing, painting, minor facility renovations, and general maintenance services. The Shop Foreman ensures that all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Lead, and supervise a team of skilled trade workers, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality work output.
  • Assign tasks and provide guidance on best practices for various trades, including carpentry, sheet metal work, plumbing, painting, and facility maintenance.
  • Monitor employee performance, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback for professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Project & Maintenance Coordination:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance and repair projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Coordinate resources, materials, and equipment needed for various tasks.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of work orders, project progress, and completed jobs.
  • Inspect completed work for quality assurance and adherence to specifications.

Technical Oversight & Problem-Solving:

  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving guidance for multi-trade repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to carpentry, sheet metal work, plumbing, painting, and facility upkeep.
  • Ensure that all repairs and renovations meet industry and regulatory standards.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external contractors.
  • Communicate effectively with management, staff, and stakeholders to coordinate projects and address concerns.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and personnel assignments.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a multi-trade foreman/supervisor overseeing facility maintenance and renovation activities.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in carpentry, sheet metal work, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance services.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software is a plus.

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • Work is primarily performed in a facility or shop environment with occasional exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
  • May require occasional travel to job sites for inspections and project oversight.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures, including safety and quality standards.
